Can You Fit My Homeplan?

The walls are custom-designed and built to fit virtually any building type and architectural style, complete with window and door openings.

Factory-to-job site delivery promotes reliable scheduling, allowing projects to run more quickly and efficiently, with less waste and less down-time. A Superior Walls project can typically be installed in just hours, not weeks.

Superior Walls high strength 5000+ psi concrete is reinforced with steel rebar and polypropylene fibers for added strength and performance. The wall panels also feature convenient features like built-in accesses for wiring and stud facings for easy drywall installation with screws.

What are Superior Walls?

Superior Walls of North Carolina offers patented, insulated, precast concrete wall panels created in a factory-controlled environment. These panels are delivered to the construction site, lifted into position with a crane, and securely bolted and sealed together. Custom-designed to fit nearly any architectural style, Superior Walls come with pre-formed openings for windows and doors.

Superior Walls foundations are crafted using a special low water/cement ratio concrete, ensuring dryness without the need for additional damp proofing (US Markets; see ESR-1662). They feature full-length insulation for enhanced energy efficiency and are made with high-strength 5000+ psi concrete, reinforced with steel rebar and polypropylene fibers. Convenient built-in features include accesses for wiring and stud facings for easy drywall installation. Additionally, a typical home foundation can be installed in less than one day, allowing for immediate construction upon the walls. For more details, refer to our Code Officials page.

Superior Walls employs a crushed stone footing along with a steel-reinforced footer beam to distribute the wall’s load over a large soil area, preventing soil bearing capacity from being exceeded. This clean, crushed stone layer effectively transfers the load from our wall system to the soil. For more information, see the Builder Guideline Booklet (MAN 42-9000) and the Public Documents page.

Superior Walls panels are bolted together at the top and bottom, with a one-part polyurethane sealant specifically made for precast concrete products used to seal the joints.

Superior Walls of North Carolina offers the Xi wall system with 2-1/2″ of high-density foam insulation, providing an R-value of 16. Availability may vary, so please contact Superior Walls of North Carolina for more information.

Superior Walls products are manufactured and installed by independently owned and operated factories licensed by Superior Walls. We offer a limited warranty covering defects in workmanship, materials, and sidewall water penetration. Warranty terms may vary due to state and local regulations.

The depth of the crushed stone footing is based on the allowable soil bearing capacity and the combined footing load per lineal foot. This is detailed in the Builder Guideline Booklet. More information is available on the Public Documents page as well.

The ICC Evaluation Service has produced an Evaluation Service Report (ESR-1662) for our Xi wall systems, available on the corporate website.  The report contains design value information, including allowable loads and uses for the wall system. Visit our Code Officials page for more details.

Superior Walls of North Carolina custom-makes wall lengths determined by panel weight, crane reach, and foundation geometry. We offer 4’, 8’2”, 9’, 10’, and 12’ wall heights. Availability may vary, so please contact Superior Walls of North Carolina for more information.

To meet building code requirements, the wall must be supported at both the top and bottom before backfilling. This includes completing the framing/decking connection at the top and installing the floor slab at the bottom. More details can be found in our Builder Guideline Booklet on the corporate Public Documents page.

Superior Walls panels come with a brushed finish that can be left as is or covered with finishes like paint, stucco, cultured/manufactured stone, or stone/brick veneer. Paint manufacturers typically recommend elastomeric acrylic paints for precast concrete. For stucco and stone, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, which may involve cleaning the panels and prepping the surface. Masonry screws and wire lath may be needed for joint spanning.

After installing corner studs and blocking, the panels are ready for drywall. Use at least ½” drywall, leaving a ½” gap from the floor to avoid moisture absorption. Attach drywall with 1” screws and construction adhesive on the top bond beam and stud faces. More details are available on our Public Documents page.

Yes, additional insulation can be added. We recommend closed cell insulation products like high-density foam to prevent moisture issues. Closed cell insulation keeps moisture from reaching the cooler wall surface and condensing. More details can be found under “Adding Insulation” on our Public Documents page.

The Superior Walls “Homeowner’s Guide,” available on the corporate website, provides helpful information about finishing your basement. Additional “How to” documents on insulation, drywall blocking, and more are available in our Documents Center. For comprehensive guidance, refer to our Builder Guideline Booklet on the Public Documents page.

Yes, you can add a window or door after evaluating factors like point loads and frost protection.
